Programme 2014


We try to offer our members a varied programme and times to suit, including Day Time Sessions, Evening Sessions and all day Saturday workshops.  We try to include a variety of mediums and find something new and interesting each year.

We hope there is something for everyone in this years programme.


Annual General Meeting - 23th January  - 7.30 – 9.30pm
Yealmpton Community Centre
There are various important issues to discuss with members but business will be kept to a minimum. This will be followed by a free raffle, art bring and buy sale, drinks and nibbles, so please come along and support.


Day Time Sessions
 
Mondays - starting 13th January - Oils
The existing oil painting groups will continue.
Morning group - 10 am - 1 pm
Afternoon Group - 1.15 pm - 4.15 pm
A waiting list for places is available; priority will be given to members
£2 per session (visitors £3)

Evening Sessions                   7pm to 9.30pm
These will normally be held in the  Methodist Hall, Yealmpton.

February 18th                Transfer your ideas into 3D - Cancelled

March 18th                    Members Evening

May 13th                       Jane Davarian
will demonstrate some drawing techniques using graphite pencils, sticks and blocks. We will explore mark making on different types of paper, methods of blending, softening then removing graphite to devlop shape and form. We will also look at simple ways to scale up drawings from photographs.

September 16th        Creation of a Montage for the Exhibition


October 14th             Margaret Nicholls
Maggie will conduct an evening looking at reflected mirror studies in a still life.


November 25th          Social Evening
Social evening with art based quiz and festive nibbles. Venue t.b.c.
 
Additional Day-time Sessions
 
These will be conducted by Jenny Johnson at the Methodist Church Hall, Yealmpton. 1.30-4.30 pm, Wednesdays beginning....
 
January 29th, March 5th and April 2nd.
 
Fun with drawing and each week working with different drawing mediums, pastel, pen & ink, charcoal and pencils.Exploiting each medium to its full potential.

Saturday Workshops   £10 (£15 non members) unless stated otherwise
These are held in the Yealmpton Community Centre, 10am to 4pm

Drinks are provided but please bring a packed lunch.
Please supply your own materials and equipment unless advised otherwise.

January 18th                  Rebecca Demendonca - Pastel Workshop

Rebecca will conduct a series of demonstrations to help yo explore and develop pastel techniques - you will be amazed how versatile this medium is. You can choose your own subject. References will be provided and materials can be obtained at a cost proce of a maximum £4 if you do not have pastels. For all abilities. www.rebeccademdonca.co.uk
 

February 22nd          Michael Hill - Still Life
Using mixed media - this will be a more abstract approach to still life using shape, colour and texture and treating the background as an important part of the picture. We will endeavour to created an exciting and contemporary image. Materials may include white side of mount board (A3), acrylic or watercolour, inks,crayons, newspaper, magazines etc., PVA glue.

March 29th                 Jenny Johnson - Life Class

A day to explore the enjoyment of drawing from a model, looking at proportions, tone, movement and enjoy challenges of capturing the dynamics of the human form.

May 10th or 17th t.b.c. by artist.

June dates t.b.c
Outdoor painting in the countryside to be arranged. If well supported further sessions can be arranged.


November 22nd        Charles Evans - Autumnal Woodland Scene in Acrylics.
Charles will lead, step by step, with demonstrations on painting techniques throughout the session, on this seasonal woodlandscape. We will be painting on canvas. A canvas can be purchased from the Artist at the start of the session 50% less than in art shops. For all abilities.
