 Yealm Art Society Autumn Newsletter

We have had good attendance at the workshops throughout the year, hopefully our programme for 2019 will prove just as popular with you all.

Michael Hill’s workshop was both informative and enjoyable. His relaxed style and encouraging approach helped the more experienced artists, and also those less experienced. His patience and willingness to share his knowledge was appreciated by all.

Phil Creek ‘s  Marine Landscape proved very popular and all those attending thought he had given a very good tutorial, being very generous with his time to each person. At the end he carried out a helpful and positive critique on each one.   His painting style was very free and those attending produced interesting works, some of which we hope to see in our next exhibition. He has agreed to come back again for 2019 when he will be showing us how to tackle local landscapes and all that green!

Anthony O’Keefe  who specialises in Portrait and Equine paintings gave us a very informative evening talk on 29th October at his gallery in Brixton.  Passing on very good hints and tips for painting any subject in oils.  He demonstrated his glazing techniques on a mountain landscape. Anthony kindly gave this talk and demonstration at no charge and included a very good cup of coffee and biscuits.

Our last Saturday workshop for this year was Rob Dudley, the author of several books on painting techniques capturing the brilliance of a Dartmoor Stream.  Once again Rob proved to be a great tutor, with everyone finding this workshop very enjoyable.

Our last event for the year is the Christmas Social on 4th December to be held at The Parish Room, Yealmpton - 7.00pm - 9.30pm.
The Christmas Social is a great opportunity for members to get together, have a chat and enjoy a glass of wine along with a mince pie or two.

Hazel Hawkins is organising a Xmas Tree for the Society at the Yealmpton Christmas Tree Festival. If members would like to get involved she will be bringing along some decorations to be finish off.  We look forward to seeing you there.

We will be painting in a very free expressive style encouraging a looser approach.  If you are interested in a place on this workshop, please contact Lin Forrester lin.f@btinternet.com or call on 872437.
