Day Time Painting Together Sessions - January to June & October to December

Do you find it difficult to make time to paint at home?   Why not come along and paint while enjoying the company of other members.
All mediums.

Evening Sessions Parish Room Yealmpton 7pm - 9.30pm £5 per session, unless stated otherwise
19 Mar Silk Painting with Angela Macpherson - This is a simple starter session to experiment with the medium. Angela will provide materials and designs to copy, or you can draw or bring your own.  There will be a small added charge of £2.50 for materials.
14 May

Acrylic Flow/Pour Demo by Hazel Hawkins and Maggie Nicholls - This is an exciting way of painting without brushes, pouring paint onto canvas to achieve a kind of marbled effect with the creation of cells. Its fun, unpredictable and reasonably quick to do (and can be messy!!)

​​​​17 Sept Paint in the style of Andre Derain with Lyn Blake - Andre was a French artist, painter, sculptor and co-founder of Fauvism with Henri Matisse. Take a look at his work and then try his techniques to interpret an image of your choice in his bright and colourful style.
3 Dec Christmas Social - Come along and meet up with fellow members and enjoy a mince pie or two! Details to be decided closer to the time.

SATURDAY WORKSHOPS - Yealmpton Community Centre 10am - 4pm £25 (£30 non members) unless stated otherwise
To reserve a place, payment is required 7 days prior to the workshop. Drinks are provided but please bring a packed lunch. Please supply your own materials and equipment unless advised otherwise. Further details will be sent by newsletter which can also be found on this website.
26 Jan  Emma Carter – Expressive Seascape/Landscape – Mixed medium - This workshop will be conducted mainly in acrylics, bring what you have. (No Oils). We will be painting in a very free expressive style encouraging a looser more free style based on a land or seascape.
9 Feb Morning Talk Isobel Coulton –  10.30am to 12.30pm - Isabel will talk about her journey into the world of fine art. She will talk about her daily practices and the making of the Buckfast Stone Madonna and Child sculpture.
£7.50 to include coffee and cake.

2 March Phil Creek  – Devon Landscapes Acrylic / Water-based media - We are please to invite Phil back following last year’s very well received workshop. This time Phil will lead us on how to tackle the local landscapes, and all that green!
18 May Laure Bury – Butterflies in Acrylic (Instruction -  morning only) - Laure will lead a step by step demo which members can paint along with.  Although Laure will leave at 1pm, members can stay for the afternoon and continue to paint on their own. £15 (£18 non-members) plus £5 for the afternoon session<

22 June John Christian – Landscape in a fast and loose style – Watercolour  
Working from pen and ink sketches John will give a step by step demonstration on how to bring a plein air sketch from foundation stage to a landscape, using a limited pallet.
5 Oct Michael Hill - Abstracting from landscape Acrylic/Mixed Media - Michael will supply images from which he and participants will use to extract elements to depict the landscape in an abstract form.  He will encourage us to experiment with shape, colour and texture to create an attractive and exciting artwork.
2 Nov Sue Luker – Clay Works - Hand build and create sculptural vessels and decorate using coloured slips, using your paintings as inspiration. Sue can take the pots to her studio to be fired so they can be used.
Extra costs. Clay slips £4 per person. If you would like your pot fired there will be a further charge of £2 per person.

22 April - Collection of artworks 4:30pm - 5.30pm
Note - All exhibitors will be required to be available for at least one desk duty during the exhibition. Should this be a problem you can arrange for someone else to cover your duty. Our exhibition remains non-selective and all members are encouraged to exhibit.
